Miami Flats Fishing

Captain Rich Smith
This is what the entrance to some of
the hidden fishing ponds may look like

Along the way you will see Alligators and Florida's very own
Saltwater Crocodile.
This is a typical sunrise in Hell's Bay.  The best part
of fishing in the backcountry is no matter how
rough it may be that day you can always find a place
to get away from the winds in the Backcountry.
Or if its Sunsets you prefer. Yes, we have them
too.  This shot was taken in whitewater bay
While in the backcountry you are always just minutes
away from a bathroom.  So "Ladies" don't worry.  You
don't have to rough it too much.  This shot was taken
while camping at a remote chickee in the Backcountry
You can expect to see many different kinds of
birds in the Everglades.  This shot is of a Heron
hunting bait fish in Tarpon Creek.
All age levels can get into backcountry flats fishing. This
shot is of 8 year old Chris taking Fly Fishing Lessons.
Later in the day he got his first baby Tarpon on Fly
You will also see many different types of orchids and
bromeliads along the edges of the narrow creeks
The Powdery Catopsis.(Catopis berteroniana)is an
endangered air plant of the Florida Everglades that
has a slippery powder to attracts insects. They
slide into a water reservoir at the base of the
plant and their decaying body supplies nutrients.
