Islamorada Fishing Charters

The next group of Islands south of Key Largo is known as the community of Islamorada, which is known as the "Sport Fishing Capital of the World."  It is about an hour car ride away from the Miami area.  Over the last hundred years legendary anglers such as Ted Williams, Joe Brooks, Jimmy Albright, and Flip Pallot all spent many of days learning the secrets of the Islamorada backcountry flats.  Over the years guides have chosen this groups of islands to take off from because of its diverstiy of fishing grounds.  If you stay near Islamorada you can regularly catch Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon or if you choose to do something different you can head towards Flamingo inside Everglades National Park which is only a 35 minute boat ride across the maze of flats in Florida Bay.  Here anglers can hope to catch Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, and Trout just to name a few.

What can I expect?

While fishing near Islamorada you can expect to see crystal clear water and sandy illuminating flats.  As you venture in the backcountry towards the Everglades you will notice the water to become dirtier because of the numerous freshwater creek run offs.  Islamorada is a great starting point for anyone wanting to catch a "Backcountry Slam" which is a bonefish, snook, tarpon, trout, and redfish.

What is there to do other than fish in Islamorada?

Eventhough most anglers dream of what they can catch on the water in the Florida Keys there is much to see and do in the area when you get off the boat.  We have a giant Bass Pro Shops which is named "The World Wide Sportsman" which has a replica of Ernest Hemmingway's boat the Pilar inside that you can tour.  Upstairs from there is a nice bar called Zane Grey Lounge which has several black and white photo's hanging on the wall of his giant catches.  Its is a great place to sit outside with a cocktail and watch the sunset over Florida Bay.

Islamorada is also home to some great restaurants and ocean front dining.

-Lorelei Cabana Bar has become a staple for cocktail hour after a exciting day of Tarpon fishing during the Spring Tarpon Season.

-Ocean View Inn and Sports Bar or as locals call it "Ov's" is a great place to sit back with a cold beer and watch whatever sports game may be playing on television.

Or if its an up close and personal Tarpon experience you crave Robbie's Marina is just the place.  Here you can hand feed hundreds of Tarpon all year long.
