Everglades Backcountry Fishing

The Backcountry waters of the Florida Everglades is a place like no where else on the planet. This area of Florida is still considered extremely remote and is home to many species of wildlife. Everglades Backcountry Fishing is a style of fishing that takes place in water shallow enough to stand. Normally 1-3 feet of water. The boats we use to perform this style of fishing are known as "Flats Boats" or "Flats Skiffs." These boats are specifically designed to access shallow water and are made of high tech composit materials so they are also very light. This type of construciton allows your backcountry fishing guide to pole the skiff on top of the flats effortless while also keeping very quiet as to not spook fish. While you are stalking these fishin many times you can also spot species like alligators, crocodiles, dolphins, and even manatees.
Considered the "Heart" of the Everglades, Flamingo is a destination like no where else. Only about 30 miles west of Miami is where the Flamingo fishing grounds are located. This area is home year-round to species like Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Grouper, Trout, Triple Tail, Snapper, Cobia, Sheepshead, and Sharks. Your Everglades Backcountry Fishing guide is an expert at finding these species and navigating this remote part of the world.

Our Backcountry Fishing Trips generally start at 7:00 AM and can last either 4, 6, or 8 hours depending on your schedule and weather conditions. During your trip you can catch these species with either live bait, lures, soft plastics, and even fly fishing gear. Your guide will know what is the best bait to use based on the time of year, tide, and weather conditions. A lot of bait choice also depends on the particular skill level of the angler. Beginners should stick with live bait so they get to catch more fish while the more experienced fisherman can try artificial baits and even fly fishing. |
